Unity Gain Inverting Amplifiers and Negative Impedance Converters

In this chapter, unity gain inverting amplifiers (UGIAs) and negative impedance converters (NICs) are investigated. A simple circuit for realizing different transfer functions based on one UGIA is given. Afterward, two first-order voltage-mode (VM) all-pass filters (APFs) and one first-order current-mode universal filter based on a single UGIA are treated. A first-order VM APF using a single NIC is given. A number of positive/negative lossy/lossless grounded/floating synthetic inductors are investigated. In addition, a single NIC-based Wien oscillator is given. Finally, a second-order VM universal filter composed of one NIC and one voltage follower is treated.
