Study on Pipeline Installation with J-Lay System of a New Vessel Construction

It is in research that the important design parameters for pipeline installation with J-Lay system. Firstly, the paper presents the existing J-Lay vessels and typical projects with pipeline installation using J-Lay. Secondly, checks proposed J-Lay system capability for the new vessel, the pipe out diameter and wall-thickness under different water depths based on prime standards. Thirdly, compares the pipe laying efficiency with different work stations compared with unit pipe length. Finally, gets the required function for the proposed J-Lay vessel design. With the development strategy of deep-water oil and gas resources in the South China Sea and the increase in overseas projects, the research results of this paper have certain academic and engineering significance.
