Bioactive Compounds and Biological Activities of Nepal Yam (Dioscorea deltoidea wall. Ex Griseb.)
摘要
A better nutrient composition in food is always preferred for human health. Dioscorea deltoidea wall. Ex Griseb. has significantly influenced the farming and nutraceutical industries nowadays. The biological activity of D. deltoidea, such as its antioxidant, anticancer, antimicrobial, antidiabetic, and hepatoprotective properties, as well as its use in the treatment of so many diseases, has increased interest in incorporating it into the human diet. Therefore, it is necessary to explore its bioactive component which can show the potential of the plant for pharmaceutical as well as nutraceutical purposes. In this chapter, the bioactive chemicals of D. deltoidea and their biological activities have been discussed.
