摘要

The Drimia genus belongs to the Asparagaceae family. It is widely distributed globally and well-known for several potential medicinal applications. Numerous species within the genus contain bioactive compounds such as bufadienolides, steroidal saponins, and alkaloids which contribute to their medicinal value. Drimia plants have been extensively studied and utilized for their therapeutic properties in the treatments for diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. Extracts obtained from different parts of Drimia plants including bulbs, leaves, flowers, as well as isolated compounds have shown diverse biological activities. This chapter provides an overview of the current knowledge regarding the Drimia genus, emphasizing its medicinal importance and presenting information on the chemical constituents reported from various plant parts which exhibit a wide range of biological activities.
