Esophageal Cancer

Although relatively rare in comparison to other malignancies, esophageal cancer represents a commonly treated clinical entity by thoracic surgeons. The epidemiology, risk factors, clinical presentation, and necessary investigations are outlined as well as the classification of esophageal cancer and the staging system. The various treatment options based on the stage of the cancer are then reviewed.
