Chylothorax

Chylothorax is the accumulation of chylous fluid from the lymphatic system into the pleural space. It may be a result of malignancy or trauma and after lymph node dissection or, most commonly, due to iatrogenic injury during esophageal or pulmonary surgery. Conservative or interventional approaches are selected based on the degree of chyle leak, clinical status, and mechanism of leak.
