Pulmonary Metastasis and Metastasectomy

Metastatic lesions to the lung are relatively frequent, most commonly from primary neoplasms of the breast, colon, kidney, and head and neck. The majority of patients are asymptomatic and lesions are found on imaging. While management is patient specific, pulmonary metastases can often be successfully treated with localized therapy, encompassing both surgical and nonsurgical methods. Despite treatment, however, long-term survival after metastasectomy remains uncommon.
