Designing a Bioelectrical Impedance Phase Angle Measurement System to Support Evaluating Nutritional Status and Biochemical Components of Human Body
摘要
The assessment of nutritional status and body composition is extremely important and concerning, especially after the covid-19 epidemic; this issue is even more cared about. So far, bioelectrical impedance phase angle (BIPA) has been known as a parameter used in measuring and evaluating the nutritional status and identifying the body’s biochemical components. The evaluation will be more effective if there is a device for directly measuring and monitoring BIPA value. In this study, we designed a system for measuring BIPA using a current source injected into the human body through a pair of electrodes. The other pair of electrodes is used to get the signal out of the body, and they will be processed to calculate BIPA. The system has ensured the requirements for our proposed method, which can be used to measure directly and safely the human body for the actual assessment. Experimental outcomes are carried out and evaluated over 10 normal volunteers for the results of BIPA parameters ranging from 6–9, with errors between 0.52–1.13. The mean BIPA value obtained is 7.23, with an average error of 0.78. Compared to previously announced results of other studies, our results are acceptable and within. This study has been operating and achieving directly measuring results on the human body that can be developed to complete the measurement system and monitor the biochemical status of the body through BIPA for applications in the biomedical field and other related areas.
