Evaluating the Effectiveness of Using Low-Level Laser Therapy for the Healing Process of Third-Degree Burns in Mice

Burn injuries may cause severe damage to patients and even lead to death, especially high degree burns wounds. The requirement for researching more efficient treatments for high-level burn wounds has always been demanding. Therefore, the proposed study investigated the effectiveness of applying Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) 650 nm to enhance the healing process for third-degree burns in mice models. A specialized device was developed specifically for research purposes to create consistent and standardized burn wounds on different mice. The primary objective was to demonstrate the effectiveness of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) when applied to these uniformly generated burn wounds. The device ensured that the burns inflicted on the mice were identical in terms of their nature and characteristics, enhancing the reliability and accuracy of the subsequent experiments. The healing was evaluated by comparing with control groups regarding wound contraction and performing H&E staining; using H&E staining, the healing effects of burn wounds at the tissue level can be observed. The results show that LLLT offers better therapeutic efficacy compared to control groups. The proposed study provides a promising breakthrough methodology to treat high-level burn injuries using a safe and economical light source. Thus, this study could be performed on a larger scale for even greater accuracy.
