Methodology

In this chapter, I first provide background information on the modern foreign language teachers who completed the questionnaire on which the present study about intercultural competence and pragmatics is based. This includes details about their ages, gender identities, native languages, higher education background and L2 teaching experiences, as well as the modern foreign language(s) they were teaching and their teaching contexts. I then provide information on the online survey and its individual items. This is followed by information on the research procedure. The questionnaire that was used in the present study can be found in the Appendix of this chapter.
