Educational AFM and Curriculum Design

This chapter presents the design and instrumentation details of an affordable AFM system centered around active probe technologies. The system is specifically tailored for educational purposes in the fields of mechatronics and instrumentation, targeting undergraduate and graduate students in science and engineering disciplines. It is characterized by its modularity, affordability, and ease of operation, making it suitable for classroom use. The system allows for the replacement and upgrade of subsystems, facilitating the integration of different components developed by student groups in collaborative projects.
