Transient Conduction

摘要

In transient conduction, the temperature at any location in a region changes with time. This is a common condition which is encountered in many engineering applications. In this chapter, we will present a simplified model for solving certain transient problems in which spatial variation of temperature is neglected, and will subsequently consider transient conduction in one spatial coordinate. The use of the method of separation of variables to solve transient problems will be presented. Time-dependent boundary conditions will be treated using Duhamel’s superposition integralDuhamel’s superposition integral. The similarity transformation methodSimilarity transformation method will be introduced and applied to the solution of transient conduction in semi-infinite regions.
