International Scientific Production on Smart Cities and Innovation in Bibliometric Description of Data Indexed in Scopus

Smart cities have aroused interest in the media and in various fields of knowledge, due to the search for solutions to various urban and social problems, suggesting analyses related to innovation, especially in the context of public policies. Thus, a bibliometric research was carried out on the relationship between innovation and cities in the world, considering the Scopus database, directed to scientific articles published in English between 2012 and 2022. As a result, 394 scientific articles were found, published by 977 different authors, in 252 journals, as well as the contributions of the 10 most cited articles in the period were described, in addition to three others selected by the relevance of the authors. It is concluded that the study of innovation in cities is on the rise, especially from 2018, with emphasis on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary studies with a focus on sustainability.
