摘要

The integrated use of Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) as part of multi-systemic clinical assessment has proven benefits in various shock conditions related to acute obstetric and gynaecological emergencies. It is also useful when evaluating females presenting with acute pelvic or lower abdominal pain and PV bleed that could be due to a wide range of differential diagnoses. Understanding the principal of ultrasound, basic female pelvic anatomy and sonoanatomy are important to assist in image interpretation that will lead to accurate diagnosis. Important pathologies during the first, second and third trimesters of pregnancies can present with specific sonographic findings during POCUS assessment. Conditions such as ovarian cysts accident, tubo-ovarian abscess and pelvic inflammatory diseases among the non-pregnant females can also be easily detected with this bedside imaging modality.
