Complying with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
摘要
Europe has a common overarching regulation that focuses on data privacy and is exemplary in the rights it affords its constituents. This chapter considers aspects such as the rights afforded data subjects, recommendations for adherence, and impacts of ignoring such regulation. GDPR is applicable not only to all European Union member states, but also to non-EU nations who choose to be GDPR adherent in the European Economic Area (EEA) – and it also applies to all organizations who do business in these nations. The reader is recommended to read the chapter on Information Privacy, which is preliminary reading and discusses some aspects of GDPR.
