A Quick Summary on Ethnobotany in Lebanon

摘要

Lebanon is a small mountainous country, with an area of 10,452 km2. It is located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea and is bordered to the north and east by Syria, and to the south by Israel (FAO 2008. According to the census conducted by the Central Administration of Statistics in 2019, the population of Lebanon is estimated at approximately 4.8 million people, 3.48 millions of whom are Lebanese and the rest are residents of other nationalities (CAS 2019). Lebanon is full of great linguistic and ethnic differences. Arabic is considered to be the official language of the country and is the most widely spoken, in addition to using Armenian and Kurdish. As for the common foreign languages, English and French are widely used and taught at universities (Esseili 2017).
