Education and Training in OASIS
摘要
Education and training in the clinical environment are continuous and essential processes. Older studies have shown almost 30% of obstetric anal sphincter injuries (OASIs) can be missed by doctors and midwives. Given the rarity of OASIs, and the time pressures on healthcare professionals, simulation training is essential to supplement clinical experience and ensure confidence in the diagnosis and repair of these injuries. Surveys of doctors and midwives have shown some dissatisfaction with training experience and availability of training in this regard. We describe courses (hands-on and online) and simulation models that have been specifically designed to address this need.
