Neuro-Consultation from the Veterans and Military Perspective
摘要
The military conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan have resulted in an increasing number of service members returning with neurological injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and polytraumatic injuries. The Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) have established systems of rehabilitation care from point of injury along the continuum to provide lifelong care for our nation’s war heroes. Understanding these systems of care, and the resources they provide, may be useful to neurorehabilitation consultants caring for Veterans with acquired neurological injuries and considering discharge and transitional care plans.
