Radiofrequency Ablation for Chronic Venous Disease

  • Dimitrios Kontothanassis

摘要

Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (EVRFA) is a safe and effective, thermal and tumescent mini-invasive percutaneous procedure for the treatment of chronic venous disease (CVD). Recent guidelines highly recommended it for saphenous ablation (Grade 1B). In the last 20 years, innovation of the generator and the catheter electrode simplify the procedure and transform it in a fast-learning curve technique if compared with Laser. Next generation RF catheters and electrodes are very promising; new markings and curved tip are specially designed for ease of navigation and positioning; smaller profile (6F), offers greater flexibility while a 10 cm electrode definitely reduce the time of saphenous ablation.
