Introduction to Endografts for Infrarenal AAAs
摘要
EVAR history starts about 40 years ago at the end of the 1980s when Ukrainian Nikolai Volodos from the USSR and Argentinian Juan Parodi from the USA presented their revolutionary theories for endoluminal treatment of aortoiliac aneurysms. In the following years, the work of surgical and radiological visionaries and efficient biomedical engineers led to the development of one of the most significant discoveries in the history of medicine. Modern endografts, characterized by specific unique properties, can treat most cases of aortic aneurysms. However, specific anatomical details should be carefully considered to reduce complications with the new treatment. Proper preoperative planning is essential to achieve best results.
