Patient Selection for Endovascular AAA Repair

  • George S. Sfyroeras

摘要

Appropriate patient selection for endovascular aneurysm repair involves an assessment of both physiologic and anatomic risk factors. The treating physician must take into consideration the patient’s comorbidities, mainly cardiac, pulmonary, and renal. Aneurysm diameter is evaluated according to the published guidelines, in conjunction with patient’s age, comorbidities, and life expectancy. High-risk patients and those with advanced age require individualized approach. A preoperative detailed anatomic assessment is necessary to determine if an endovascular repair is feasible and safe. Proper choice of stent graft and meticulous planning of the procedure is necessary for successful deployment of the device and prevention of complications.
