Principles and Guidelines for Radiation Protection

The use of X-rays is associated with a biological risk, both for patients and for health care workers. This chapter describes the mechanisms underlying image formation and why this leads to a risk of biological complications. It then reviews the main rules governing the principles of radiation protection and how to apply them in the operating theatre in daily practice.
