Interventions for Femoropopliteal Disease

  • Raphaël Coscas

摘要

This chapter reviews the general strategy and the main technical aspects of endovascular interventions for femoropopliteal (FP) disease. We propose a systematic approach, including six main points when preparing the procedure: (1) define the access(es) needed, (2) navigate through the arterial system down to the target lesion, (3) cross the lesion, (4) open the lumen using vessel preparation tools, (5) use an anti-restenotic therapy, and (6) close the access. With available devices, the technical success of endovascular FP interventions is close to 100%. Current and future developments focus on improving long-term durability, which remains the main drawback of these procedures.
