Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) poses a significant burden on the global healthcare system, requiring effective management strategies to improve patient outcomes. Re-entry and recanalization techniques have emerged as crucial tools in the endovascular management of PAD, allowing for the restoration of blood flow in occluded or stenosed peripheral arteries. This paper aims to provide an abstract of the current knowledge and techniques related to re-entry and recanalization in the endovascular management of PAD. It discusses various methods employed in re-entry, such as subintimal angioplasty, re-entry devices, and retrograde access. Additionally, it explores recanalization techniques, including atherectomy, thrombectomy, and laser ablation, which can effectively remove obstructive plaque and restore vessel patency. Furthermore, the abstract highlights the importance of patient selection, procedural planning, and the role of imaging modalities in optimizing re-entry and recanalization procedures. By comprehensively understanding these techniques, healthcare professionals can enhance their ability to treat PAD, improve patient outcomes, and reduce the need for surgical interventions.
