Numerical Modeling of the Mechano-Biological Behavior of Bone Remodeling Process

摘要

Bone is a dynamic and complex living organ consisting of cortical, trabecular, and cotico-trabicular components, with the cells responsible for the tissue's microscale arrangement and mechanical properties. To address the challenges associated with experimental studies, we present an analytical approach that employs a remodeling algorithm to develop a mathematical model for bone evolution. Our model shows that bone volume increases over time, leading to a response from the cortico-tabular area to biological factors. By considering the characteristics of osteocytes, such as porosity and surface area accessible to remodeling, we can detect the relationship between remodeling elements and biological factors that determine mineral movement in bone. Furthermore, we integrated the effect of mechanical stimuli into our model. In this study, we treat biological and mechanical parameters as fixed to simplify the proposed model for different cases of simulation.
