Tool Temperature Distribution in Orthogonal Cutting Using Finite Element Thermal Analysis
摘要
The aim of this paper is to estimate the tool temperature distribution in orthogonal cutting using a finite element thermal modelling process. The thermal loads applied in the FE model is a non-uniform heat flux which is provided from an analytical thermomechanical model developed for orthogonal turning. Besides, a python script, based on Abaqus Python Scripting coupling, was used to automatically generate the tool-chip contact surface and to predict heat flux and boundary conditions over a wide range of cutting conditions. The simulated temperatures are in line with experimental data under several cutting conditions.
