A Review of Policies, Energy Resources Towards a More Sustainable Economy: A Study on Renewable Energy in India

India is a rapidly growing South Asian economy that has made efforts globally to address issues regarding climate change. There is a need for a better understanding of energy resource markets, government policies, energy trends, and studies to help the country move toward achieving sustainable development goals and combating climate change. The review highlights India’s capacity for renewable energy generation and the country’s existing economic conditions in the power generation sector. There is a lack of market awareness and knowledgeable individuals in renewable energy generation and transmission. The current transmission and distribution networks in India are incompatible with renewable energy generation; a few cities currently support this, but it requires significant capital investment. An efficient energy policy has to be facilitated to meet power targets at economy, allowing the country to significantly lower levels of emissions. Research must also be strengthened to help policymakers make decisions. The purpose of this paper is to make a policy decision in India’s energy sector. Another goal of this paper is to investigate non-convectional energy systems (renewable). A brief examination of the systems used in India. India’s progress in various renewable energy sectors like hydropower and solar is assessed.
