Design and Implementation of Household Carbon Emission Estimation Program Based on Financial Consumption

In order to raise the public's concern about carbon emissions and let more residents know about the carbon emissions and their impacts, a household carbon emission estimation method based on financial consumption was proposed, and the practical application of the algorithm was realized through software development. Household carbon emissions can be divided into direct carbon emissions and indirect carbon emissions. Based on the typical correspondence between energy consumption and consumption, an estimation model of individual carbon emissions is proposed. Based on this estimation model, the software program of household carbon emission estimator is designed, and the mini program “My carbon emission” is developed by using WeChat mini program platform. In addition to providing carbon estimation services, the “My carbon emission” mini program also provides extended services such as ranking carbon emissions, suggesting carbon reduction measures, and sharing knowledge about carbon emissions on an irregular basis. A statistical analysis of 112 trial participants’ actual application data shows that electricity consumption and fuel consumption are the main sources of household carbon emissions. Further investigation found that more than 80% of the trial users said that the function of the system helps them understand carbon emissions, and they are willing to participate in the extended services such as carbon ranking and carbon trading.
