Preparation of Nano Iron Oxides and Study on Mercury Removal

摘要

The hydrothermal method was used to prepare nano iron oxides, SEM, XRD and BET analysis were used to characterize the synthesized material. And their removal performance of elemental mercury was studied. The presence of NO, NO2 and HCl can promote the removal of elemental mercury, presumably they could promote the oxidation of elemental mercury. With decreased particle size and increased surface area, the catalytic activity of nano α-Fe2O3 and nano γ-Fe2O3 was found to increase. The nano α-Fe2O3 and nano γ-Fe2O3 showed noticeable increase in mercury removal capacity under the HCl + SO2, NO + SO2 and HCl + NO + SO2 atmosphere.
