Challenges and Prospects in Utilization of LiCoO2 as a Cathode Material for Lithium Batteries

  • Lidan Yang

摘要

LiCoO2, as the most common cathode material at this stage, when they are raised the cut-off voltage in order to get more capacity, the dissolution of cobalt in the electrolyte is leading to severe structural disorder of the lithium cobaltate particles, which in turn affects the cycle life and leads to rapid capacity decay. The researchers compared the morphology, structure, and thermal stability by analyzing LiCoO2 experiments at different charging states of 120%, 150%, 174% and 190% and found that the lithium content of LiCoO2 increases rapidly with increasing charging percentage and does not stabilize until after 174% charging state. This paper first introduces the current status, structure, and materials of Li-ion technology, and then describes the progress and challenges of existing methods.
