In Chapter 3 , we looked at the ways in which societal multilingualismmultilingualism, societal arises and we focused on the social consequences of the co-existence of multiple languages: the language choices that individuals can make and how those choices are constrained, as well as the potential for language conflictlanguage conflict and how conflict can be avoided through language planninglanguage planning and policy.
