Use of Stoichiometric Relationships in Simple Reaction Systems

摘要

The relationships between the net production rates for a single reaction are known to lead to equivalent relationships between the changes in the amount of the reacting species for the ideal flow models, i.e., plug-flow and perfect mixing, invoked in introductory CRE courses. It is emphasized in this chapter that similar relationships are valid for multiple reaction systems. To this end, suitable measures of the present amounts of the species are first discriminated and their application is then shown for the treatment of customary problems and concepts typically undertaken in introductory CRE courses. Limitations arising in the study of semi-batch reactors are finally discussed.
