The Robotic Platform

Robotic surgery has been conceived to overcome the technical limitations of conventional laparoscopy, maintaining the benefits of the minimally invasive approach. Robotic platforms are complex systems that require a step-by-step learning curve both for surgeons and for operative room nurses: this chapter describes the characteristics of the robotic Da Vinci® Xi system, with particular regard to the technical details of its correct setup in the operating room.
