摘要

The progressive standardization of laparoscopic techniques in colorectal surgery has significantly changed the surgeon’s propensity for a minimally invasive approach to colorectal cancers (Vasudevan et al. Surg Endosc. 30:5490–5493, 2016). The latest-generation robots are much easier to place and manage inside the operating theater and available at increasingly advantageous economic conditions, making the use of robots become increasingly popular in many areas of digestive surgery. Clinical studies have demonstrated the non-inferiority of the robotic technique compared to laparoscopy and open technique (Solaini et al. Int J Colorectal Dis. 37:1497–1507, 2022; Bertani et al. Minerva Chir 68:445–56, 2013), implementing the advantages of minimally invasive surgery from the patient’s point of view, providing greater ergonomics for the surgeon, and maintaining the same oncologic outcomes (Addison et al. Surg Clin North Am 100:337–360, 2020). Left colonic resections for oncological pathology consist in the removal of portions of the left colon with the ligation at the origin of the IMA and adequate lymphadenectomy.
