Analysis of Existing Approaches to the Formalization of the DSL Structure

In this chapter, taking into account the critical aspects highlighted in the previous chapter, the main existing approaches to the formal definition of a DSL in general, from the semantic model to a specific syntax, will be analyzed. It is important to note that these methods will be considered in general terms, without reference to a particular type of DSL (graphical or textual) and to DSL development tools. This approach will allow to consider the structure of the DSL as a whole and to identify common components at different levels of the DSL structure in order to further integrate them and create a unified approach to creating a coherent DSL structure that allows its flexibility and evolution.
