The World in 2050 and Beyond

The world has entered an era when the imprint of one species—humans—can threaten not only ourselves but the rest of the biosphere. Our collective activities can drastically affect climate, biodiversity and natural resources. Moreover, 21st century technologies, while offering huge benefits, are so empowering—and our globe is so interconnected—that a small group of people can, by error or by evil intent, create a catastrophe that cascades globally.
