摘要

This chapter is an overview of (very) high-frequency ultrasound, especially the technological advances made since the invention of ophthalmic ultrasound biomicroscopy by Charles Pavlin: the very high-frequency ultrasound “Artemis”, high-frequency ultrasound with 20-MHz long and short focus probes, very high-frequency Doppler, as well as its applications for the anterior segment of the eye (cornea, iris, anterior chamber angle, ciliary body tumors) but also the posterior segment (the optic disc, the study of maculopathies and the periphery, in particular the sclera). The indications and results are reviewed in detail in Chap. 11 for the anterior segment and in Chap. 12 for the posterior segment.
