Ultrasound of the Posterior Segment
摘要
Assessment of the posterior segment is one of the most frequent indications for diagnostic ultrasound. The review must be systematic and comprehensive. One must successively analyze the vitreous, which plays a major role in many retinal conditions. Its role is diagnostic and also pathogenic and prognostic. Subsequent assessment of the vitreoretinal interface, the retina, the choroid, the sclera, the optic disc, and the macula allows for detailed analysis of each structure in terms of morphological, quantitative, and kinetic criteria using current 10/15 MHz and 20 MHz B-mode probes that offer the advantage of image post-processing, kinetics, and excellent spatial and density resolution, and also standardized A-mode echography and color Doppler imaging.
