Acceptance and Resistance: The Construction of Lived Realities

  • Zahra Rafie,

摘要

Chapter 6 seeks to explore the complexities and lived realities of Muslim woman in the context of patriarchy. Many of the Muslim female students were confronted with the assumption that women in Islam were subjected to what is perceived as intensely patriarchal religious and cultural traditions. This stereotype assumes that Muslim women are monolithic, and this becomes a microcosm of Islam in general. This stereotype becomes another experience where female Muslim students need to dismantle the perception and build on the necessary resilience to succeed.
