Introduction: Setting the Theoretical Framework

Chapter 1 establishes the theoretical framework for the wide-ranging issues and experiences of female Muslim students. In this introductory chapter, the framework of oppression and inequality is established with the range of circumstances that constitutes both the methodology employed in the study and the lived experiences of the students. In setting the orientation of the study, this chapter makes clear that generalization about female Muslim students not only is inaccurate but also perpetuates an unhealthy and dangerous assumption.
