Influence of Slip Velocity on an Infinite Cylinder and Rough-Flat Plate Lubricated with Couple Stress Fluid
摘要
Efforts have been made to investigate the impact of slip velocity on an infinite cylinder and rough-flat plate with a couple stress fluids as a lubricant. The effect of roughness is analyzed by the Stochastic approach of Christensen. The Stochastic Reynolds equation is derived. Based on the results from the study, it is concluded that the impact of slip velocity decreases the optimum bearing parameters like film pressure, load-carrying capability, and squeeze-film time, whereas the use of a couple stress fluid as lubricants increases the load-carrying capability and squeeze-film time. Taking into account the roughness characteristics, an increase/decreases effect is visible in bearing characteristics corresponding to transverse/longitudinal roughness pattern.
