摘要

In the previous chapter, we had introduced the concept of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) after presenting a background of modulation in the context of signal processing and communications. We had examined how PWM can be implemented in a basic power electronic converter such as a buck converter. The buck converter contains a single controllable device which can be switched using PWM, and therefore, is an extremely simple converter. In practice, power electronic converters can contain several controllable devices, and these devices will need to be switched in a coordinated manner. In this chapter, we will begin examining a few basic converters which have two controllable devices.
