Creation of Knowledge-Based Supply Chain Firms: Which Factors Matter?

Innovation and knowledge are key factors in the development and sustainability of firms. The same context applies to the supply chain sector, where the more innovative the firm is, the more efficient it becomes. Therefore, analyzing the various subfactors of the knowledge basis of supply chain firms could provide valuable information for the sector’s growth. This research is focused on Greek supply chain firms, which are divided into clusters based on their knowledge-sharing level. After selecting the business sample required for the research, by distributing questionnaires, the desired data from the Greek supply chain sector were collected. This data set underwent extensive cluster and factor analysis, with the strongest clusters and factors clearly emerging. Through this process, it becomes obvious that supply chain firms closer to the concept of knowledge-based entrepreneurship and innovation tend to more beneficially utilize their networks and resources due to achieving better results in opportunity recognition and exploitation factors than other firms.
