My Taiwanese Mom, Peaches

The story I submitted to the StOries Project is about my mother. Many times, I have found myself stuck in between the past and the present. The sense of belonging to nowhere appeared immense or even unbearable when I moved to Canada, where I have to relearn everything: language, culture, and my identity. Revisiting my origin by telling the story of my mom is like anchoring myself so I can land onto the new place. I learn to be more patient and grateful. Through her story I reconcile with her, and to the `me’ of the past.
