Journey Through the Self
摘要
This piece raises critical questions regarding the sense of belonging in 2nd-generation Canadians, or those born in Canada to one or more immigrant parents. I am a multidisciplinary artist and a storyteller of Jamaican heritage, often describing myself as a wanderer due to not truly feeling at home anywhere. My interests surrounding cultural identity stem from my discontent with not feeling Jamaican enough, while simultaneously feeling misunderstood as a culturally marginalized Canadian. My experiences with isolation and my yearning to belong were the inspiration for this story.
