摘要

I (Esra) explore my personal journey- of “becoming” an Alevi Muslim woman, as it unfolded while travelling in the US, and now, living in Canada. Previously, while living in Türkiye, I did not particularly self-identify with a religious identity. I narrate (and interrogate) how my identity construction process has been shaped by others’ perceptions and assumptions of who I am. My personal story is intertwined with the stories of my homeland (Türkiye), Canada and the US.
