Cardiac Anesthesia
摘要
Cardiothoracic anesthesia is a subset of general anesthesia that focuses on the care and management of patients with cardiothoracic centric disease states. This includes pathology such as valvular stenosis and regurgitation, coronary artery disease, aortic dissections, tamponade, and more. While all general anesthesiologists have exposure to management of these patients, special training in the placement and use of transesophageal echocardiography as well as a variety of uncommonly used medications and monitoring equipment differentiate cardiothoracic anesthesiologists from general anesthesiologists.
