Cell Stoichiometry

When cells grow, they can be taken as a product of reaction(s)—in much the same way any (excreted) metabolite is; hence, the overall process should be susceptible to representation by a chemical or stoichiometric equation. Metabolic stoichiometry has several applications in bioreactor engineering—including comparison between theoretical and actual product to biomass yields, check of consistency between data obtained experimentally, and rational formulation of nutrient media.
