Low-Power Digital System Design

Design for low-power consumption is as important as design for less area and high speed. Low-power digital system design is not new to researchers as there are many research works reported in literature on techniques to achieve low-power consumption. A separate chapter is included here to familiarize the readers with the basic concepts of the power consumption reduction techniques. In an integrated IC, there may be two types of power consumption, viz., peak power consumption and time average power consumption. Peak power consumption above a certain limit can instantly cause harm to an IC.
