Sexual and Reproductive Health of People with Disability in Ghana

Persons with disabilities (PwDs) constitute about 16% of the world’s population. However, they experience various challenges in their respective societies. Various interventions have been introduced to promote inclusion and improve the lives of PwDs, including the Sustainable Development Goal 3.8, which emphasizes the need for universal health coverage. This chapter elucidates the sexual and reproductive health of PwDs in Ghana and its implications for the attainment of universal health coverage. Specifically, the chapter discusses the models of disability, the conceptualization of disability in the Ghanaian context, key interventions for PwDs, and the sexual and reproductive health of PwDs. The chapter concludes by suggesting practical strategies to improve the sexual and reproductive health of PwDs.
